Advanced Shore diving

Level III - Guided Dives

Welcome to Level III of our guided shore dives. Why Self Reliant ? Our advanced shore dives require gas planning and a redundant air source to ensure we are prepared. "Murphy" is always lurking around. So we must plan for it.
We will focus on dive planning, gas planning using SAC rates, pony tanks and advanced navigation skills.

ROCKPORT WALL

Lets drive down to Rockport Ontario and dive the famous Rockport wall :) Offering up depths beyond recreational limits, we will drift along side the wall to a max depth of 100ft. So much to see here.

Gas plan and SAC rates have allowed us to plan this dive properly, we must also account for the current on the way back :) Minimum Self Reliant or above certification for this dive.

Redundant air source is a must.

CENTEEN > GASKIN

The "holy grail" of shore dives at Centeen Scuba park.

A goal for many divers, but dont let this one fool you. Current is strong, gas plan, redundant air source and dive training is needed in order to execute this dive properly. Dont take the risk without the proper training and equipment. I have spent countless hours diving this shore dive, so lets walk thru proper planning ensuring dive safety. I remember my first time seeing the Gaskin appear from the green haze of the St Lawrence. Pretty cool experience.

GASKIN > GHOST BOATS DRIFT 

Now that you are comfortable with the Gaskin shore dive, lets add a bit more fun to the dive and add in the Ghost boat circuit.

Drifting off of the Gaskin, we go on the hunt for Ghost boat #1. From there we follow the Ghost Boat circuit all the way back to Centeen.

Super fun, great navigation practice. But never forget we are drifting in a high boat traffic area. So we must plan the dive and dive the plan. This is one of my fav drifts to do. But proper training and air redundancy is a must to dive this safely.

THE LONG SQUARE

Welcome 2 the long square drift :) This is a TEC dive !

Lots of things to plan.

Leaving from Centeen Park, we ride the eddy current upstream to Reynolds yard, then we head out to 63ft !

From there we drift east until we hit the Gaskin. Depending on certification level, gas plan etc. We can do a tour of the Gaskin and either drift over to the Ghost boat circuit or jump over to the "stake" and follow the line back to Centeen.

If we do the full tour, you will get to visit 5 boats on this dive :)

This dive will test your navigation skills.

Lets discuss and plan for what it takes to execute this dive safely.

Certainly will take a few times to get comfortable doing this one with your buddy.
